I totally agree. "Mark as Undread" feature is a must feature for a good SMS application.
Until "Mark as Undread" feature gets implemented on chompSMS, I use "Pin to top" feature.
However, having "Mark as Undread" feature is the ultimate goal.

I need this request I'm order to get back to messages that needs to be reattended to. Sometime I get messages for bills when read I forget to attend to it. So I can mark read messages unread it will be great for me.

Seriously, no app except Handcent does this well.
