Enable an option for the "x" button on the pop up to mark the message as read
I know that there is a done button that can do this, however hitting the "x" is a matter of habit and it would be nice if the notification would disappear.

Yes. I just started using this app after many years of using Next Sms and used to pressing X
Also the logic of X=Done is simple and intuitive since you are acknowledging the message
