Totally agree on this, but need to clarify this for the average Joe/Jane. It's basically SMS/MMS on steroids....
RCS is a standardized protocol similar to iMessage (or WhatsApp/FB Messenger/etc) across a growing number of carriers & nations. It's now officially adopted by Sprint and signs of T-Mobile and AT&T in the near future. If/When this standard is adopted across most or all carriers, it will wipe out the exclusivity and issues associated with proprietary services like iMessage.
